Is Sonic 1 the hardest game? ›

Sonic's first game has what many consider the hardest level in any Sonic game. The final zone (level) is titled the Scrap Brain Zone and is divided into three acts (stages). The first stage isn't that bad—it's still difficult, but a player that's gotten to this point in the game shouldn't have a problem.

It's not really that hard, you just need to keep your cool and focus. If you still can't beat it though, there's accessibility options to lower the difficulty. The issue is, you can't. Once you start the final boss, you can't even access the menu anymore.

It's got the easiest bosses in any sonic game, and outside of scrap brain zone probably the easiest stages too. The sonic 3 half of S3&K might be close in difficulty but I still think Sonic 1 is mostly easier. Second easiest after CD.
